Beaches Near Kapolei

Ko Olina Lagoons

The four man-made lagoons at Ko Olina are among the most family-friendly beach spots on the island. Calm, protected waters make them ideal for keiki, and the paved coastal walking path connects all four lagoons. Parking can fill up early on weekends, so arriving before 9 AM is recommended.

Electric Beach (Kahe Point Beach Park)

Located just north of Ko Olina, Electric Beach is one of the best snorkeling spots on the west side. Warm water discharge from the nearby power plant attracts marine life, including sea turtles and tropical fish. The beach itself is small but popular with locals.

Barbers Point Beach Park

A spacious, less-crowded beach park with picnic areas, restrooms, and open grassy fields. It's a solid spot for barbecues, fishing, and relaxing without the resort crowds. The park sits near the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Kalaeloa.

Nimitz Beach and White Plains Beach

These Kalaeloa-area beaches offer wide sandy stretches that are popular for bodyboarding and surfing. White Plains was historically a military beach but is now open to the public, with good facilities and consistent waves for beginners and intermediate surfers.

Kapolei Regional Park

One of the larger parks in the area, Kapolei Regional Park features open fields, walking paths, basketball courts, a playground, and picnic pavilions. It's a hub for youth sports leagues and community gatherings.

Kapolei Community Park

Located near the Villages of Kapolei, this park includes sports courts, a playground, and open green space. The adjacent Villages of Kapolei Recreation Center offers swimming pools (including a keiki pool), fitness classes, food truck nights, and community movie nights.

Kalaeloa Community Park

Trails and Bikeways

Ko Olina Beach Park Walking Trail

This approximately 3-mile paved coastal trail runs along the Ko Olina lagoons and resort area. It's flat and stroller-friendly, making it popular with families, joggers, and anyone looking for a scenic walk at sunset.

Kapolei Parkway Bike Path

A paved multi-use path running along Kapolei Parkway, connecting residential neighborhoods to schools, shopping centers, and parks. It's a practical commuter route and a nice option for casual cycling.

Nearby Hiking

While Kapolei itself is relatively flat, several hikes are within a short drive. The Kalaeloa Heritage Trail explores the area's World War II history, and the Ewa Forest Reserve offers trails like the Waimano Falls hike for more adventurous outings. The Wai'anae Range to the north also provides challenging ridge hikes with panoramic views.
