Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area

Located in the hills above Aiea Heights, Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area is a 384-acre park that's home to the popular Aiea Loop Trail and an ancient Hawaiian healing temple (heiau). The park features camping areas, picnic pavilions, and lush Norfolk pine and eucalyptus groves. It's one of Aiea's top attractions and a peaceful retreat from the busier areas below.

Aiea Loop Trail

The Aiea Loop Trail is a 4.8-mile loop rated easy to moderate, starting and ending within Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area. The trail follows the ridge on the west side of Halawa Valley and offers views of Pearl Harbor, the Waianae Range, Diamond Head, and a unique perspective of the H-3 freeway cutting through the mountains. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours for the full loop. The trail can be muddy with exposed tree roots, so wear sturdy shoes.

Aiea Bay State Recreation Area

Situated along the banks of Pearl Harbor's East Loch, Aiea Bay State Recreation Area offers waterfront picnicking with views of Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. The Pearl Harbor bike path runs through the park, making it a great spot for cycling, walking, or simply relaxing by the water. Facilities include picnic pavilions, restrooms, and water fountains.

Aiea District Park

Aiea District Park, located at 99-350 Aiea Heights Drive next to Aiea High School, is the community's main recreational hub. The park includes a gymnasium, swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and baseball fields. The park hosts youth sports leagues, swim classes, and community events throughout the year. It's the social center of the neighborhood for families with children.

Neal S. Blaisdell Park

This waterfront park sits along Pearl Harbor near the Aiea-Pearl City border and provides open green space, walking paths, and picnic areas with harbor views. It's a popular spot for family gatherings, morning jogs, and watching the sunset over the water.

Pearl Harbor Bike Path

The Pearl Harbor Historic Trail is a paved multi-use path that runs along the Pearl Harbor shoreline, connecting Aiea Bay to Pearl City and beyond. It's great for cycling, jogging, or walking and offers unique views of the harbor and military installations along the way.

  • Pearlridge Center events: The Village Night Market runs every Saturday evening, and the center hosts seasonal events, keiki activities, and craft fairs throughout the year.
  • Aiea Pool: The public swimming pool at Aiea District Park offers lap swim, open swim, and lessons for all ages.
  • Youth sports leagues: Baseball, soccer, basketball, and other organized sports are available through the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation.

Nearby Beaches

Aiea doesn't have its own sandy beach, but several popular spots are a short drive away. Ewa Beach is about 15 minutes west, and Ala Moana Beach Park is roughly 20 minutes toward Honolulu. The North Shore beaches are about 45 minutes to an hour via H-2.
